Nov 26 – Japanese Ropework For The Bondage Beginner (or Expert)

November 12, 2007 at 1:02 am (class, general)

I finish my circle of intro classes with a class at Good Vibrations in Berkeley:–GV-SF-Bay-Area-After-Hours–id-298

This is a “bare metal” class, aimed at people who might not have any experience at all with bondage, rope or otherwise. This is a great class for those people we know who might be kinky. It’s in a well-known, established venue that’s sex-positive but not kink central. We’ll go over safewords, meeting people, and the top dos and don’ts of rope play.

The Berkeley GV is the first place I ever bought a sex toy, the place I bought my first Hitachi Magic Wand, and probably the place where I bought my copy of Midori’s Book, the main reason I am the monster that I am today. I grew up in the East Bay, and I still say “hella rad” from time to time. It will be nice to be home!

From their website…

Curious about bondage? Been playing with restraints for years? Whatever your experience, Mike West will help you discover the pleasures of ropework inspired by Japanese techniques. After reviewing the basic safety pointers that apply to almost any form of bondage, you’ll learn three basic building blocks that can be combined into a myriad of ties.

You’ll explore the psychology of bondage from the perspective of the tie-er and tie-ee, and then learn and practice tying a sturdy chest harness and the ever popular karada rope dress. Bring a partner to practice with or work with a classmate! If you have rope, bring three 25′-30′ lengths of 6mm (1/4″) rope. If you don’t have rope, Mike will have some for you to borrow.
